In just one day, discover the hidden treasures of Djerba!
You will be accompanied by a qualified and experienced guide for a full tour of the island, followed by a typical Djerbian lunch in a local
restaurant.
EXCURSION PROGRAM :
- Departure from your hotel towards the ancient Roman city of Meninx: visit the ruins and stop for photos at the famous Roman Causeway, the road linking the island to the mainland.
- Continue to the Berber village of Guellala: visit a traditional pottery workshop and the Museum of Arts and Traditions of Djerba.
- Drive through Berber villages along the tabias (earth walls) until reaching La Ghriba, the oldest Jewish synagogue in Africa. After the visit, head to Houmt Souk, the capital of Djerba.
- Stroll through the lively market, discover the fish auction, colorful stalls of spices, fruits, and vegetables.
- Explore the covered souk and admire the craftsmanship of local artisans. Visit a weaving workshop, with a demonstration and complimentary glass of mint tea.
- Lunch included at Restaurant Essofra (or similar).
- After lunch, visit the Marina, then continue to the village of Mahboubine: discover traditional Menzels (typical Djerbian houses), cisterns, wells, and gardens in the heart of the island.
- Visit an underground fortress-mosque.
- Return to your hotel.
