SUNSET EXCURSION IN THE DESERT 

Departure from Djerba or Zarzis

This excursion takes you to the hidden oasis of Ksar Ghilane, surrounded by vast dunes and endless desert landscapes. Along the way, you’ll discover natural wonders and, as the highlight, admire a spectacular sunset over the Sahara horizon.

The day ends with a traditional Berber dinner in a local village, offering an authentic cultural experience.

PROGRAM :

  • 13:00: Pick-up from your accommodation. Departure via the Roman Causeway (El Kantara), a 7 km bridge linking Djerba to the mainland. Stop for photos before continuing to Médenine.

  • Coffee break and briefing on the program.

  • Drive through the small mountain villages of Beni Kheddach.

  • Continue to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, located at the edge of the Grand Erg Oriental.

  • Free time at the oasis:

    • Relax near the natural hot spring (possibility to swim).

    • Optional camel ride (1h = 15 €) or quad adventure (35 €), payable on site.

  • Admire the sunset from the ochre dunes, away from the crowds and free from light pollution.

  • Departure to Ksar Hallouf, an ancient fortified granary once used by Berbers to store food and provisions.

  • Traditional dinner in a local guesthouse.

  • Return to Djerba in the evening.

  • Arrival at your hotel.
