TREK & CAMPING IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT

Departing from Djerba and Zarzis, this tour is designed for true desert lovers—friends of camels, nights under the stars, silence, walking, and camping. A journey of discovery, far from the city and noise, where everything is authentic and prepared on site: sand-baked bread, dinners cooked over open fire, Bedouin evenings, nights under tents, and unforgettable memories.

ITINERARY :

 

Day 1: Arrival in Djerba

  • Arrival in Djerba. Meet & greet and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Bir Abdallah

  • Private 4x4 transfer to Bir Abdallah, accessible via a rocky track from Douz—known as the “gateway to the desert.”
  • Meet the camel drivers and start your caravan adventure.
  • Tent set-up in a breathtaking wilderness—where silence reigns.
  • Light the campfire with the team and prepare a Bedouin-style dinner Dinner and overnight by the campfire. 

 

Day 3: Bir Abdallah – Legwitsa

  • Wake up gently with the first rays of the sun. Prepare the sand bread and enjoy breakfast.
    Start trekking with the caravan towards the second campsite.
  • A walk of 2–3 hours at your own pace, admiring breathtaking desert landscapes. When tired, your faithful camel will carry you.
  • Lunch en route, then another 2 hours’ walk. Camp installation at Legwitsa before sunset. Dinner, campfire evening, and second night in the desert, listening to camel drivers’ songs and stories.

 

Day 4: Legwitsa – Jwa Ethnia

  • Wake up with warm desert light and plenty of memories from the night before. Camel drivers will already have prepared breakfast by the fire.
  • Start the daily trek following the rhythm of the caravan.
  • Light lunch, then continue walking until reaching Jwa Ethnia.
  • Set up camp and help prepare dinner: collect firewood, learn how to cook with minimal tools, and share a traditional Bedouin meal. Evening around the fire and overnight in desert calm.

 

Day 5: Jwa Ethnia – Tembaine

  • Breakfast and departure towards Tembaine, one of the most beautiful and remote spots in the extreme Sahara.
    Lunch included.
  • Arrival at Tembaine Camp (Mars Camp or similar).
  • Possibility to shower (depending on availability) and enjoy a magical Saharan evening.

Day 6: Tembaine – Tembaine

 

  • Enjoy a full day around the Tembaine mountain, admiring the tranquility and beauty of the area.

Day 7: Tembaine – Djerba

  • Breakfast, farewell to camels and camel drivers, and pick-up by 4x4.
  • Return journey to Djerba, with lunch en route depending on departure time from Bir Abdallah.

Day 8: Transfer to the Airport

  • Assistance and transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule.
